TRANSKRYPCJA
Claire: My guest today is the famous food journalist, Alistair Brooks. Alistair, for the last
three years you’ve been writing about restaurants all over the world. Can you say
which restaurant you find the most extraordinary?
Alistair: Recently I had a great experience in an unusual place but it’s not for people who are
afraid of heights.
Claire: What do you mean? Is it on the top of a skyscraper?
Alistair: Wrong! The restaurant called Dinner in the Sky serves food at a table 164 feet above
the ground. The table, placed on a special platform, is lifted high in the air by a crane.
Claire: That’s incredible! Where is it?
Alistair: When I was there, it was above the City of London but I’ve heard the restaurant offers
its guests an unforgettable experience in many parts of the world.
Claire: When did the idea of such a restaurant start?
Alistair: It started in Belgium in 2006 and since then dinners, weddings, business meetings
and even piano concerts have been organized in 45 countries.
Claire: How many people can enjoy a meal at the sky-high table?
Alistair: The table can sit 22 guests. They are usually served by three staff members: a chef,
a waiter and an entertainer, for example, a singer or some other performer. Their job
is to make sure that the guests enjoy both the meal and a fantastic atmosphere.
Claire: What safety measures are there on the platform?
Alistair: Well, every guest is seated in a chair and strapped in with a safety belt. You are not
allowed to open the safety belts or even touch them at any time while the table is up
in the air.
Claire: Well, I think I’ll have to try it.
